"Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota
expresses the love of Christ for all people through acts of service." |
Following the success of Camp Noah in the summer of
2006, a new week-long, faith-based curriculum has been developed for
disaster-impacted children who are living at least one year after the
event. Each day, children will encounter Biblical characters that possess
resiliency strengths that children need when recovering from a disaster or
trauma. Noah will continue to be our principal story-teller throughout the
week, and his presence will provide a sense of continuity, a little humor,
and comfort, especially for the younger children.

Camp Noah 2 has three primary goals:
-
To build a spirit of hope and optimism in children recovering from a
disaster;
-
To identify the talents and skills each child has, and to show them how
to share their gifts with family, friends and their community;
-
To increase each child’s understanding that God does not forget about
them - even if another disaster unexpectedly interrupts their lives.

How to Have a Camp in Your Area:
Camp Noahs are often held in churches, schools and community centers. If
children in your area have been affected by disaster (natural or
human-caused), Camp Noah might be a great opportunity for them to play,
process and heal from their experience. These camps are offered at no cost
to children thanks to generous financial and in-kind donations from
community partners.
If you are interested in having a camp in your town, or
assembling a volunteer team to serve these children, please contact:
